Jeff Curtis - President

After more than a decade of supporting other agency owners, Jeff has realized his goal of owning a client oriented agency. Jeff’s goal with J. Curtis & Associates is to support clients in a more consultative, less pre-packaged environment, understanding and meeting each client’s individual needs. Jeff not only follows this directive but instills in and surrounds himself only with those that also believe in his “client first vision”. Whether it is the hiring of employees or the choice of partnering vendors, our clients’ needs and goals are our first priority.

Jeff’s career in insurance has spanned more then 25 years where his expertise has benefited both Insurance Companies and Agencies alike. Jeff has been instrumental in designing specialized programs for both the hospitality and automobile industries. Jeff's goal was to properly position these coverages to adequately protect the risks involved while also lowering the costs for both insurer and insured.

Jeff’s many and long-term clients’ today benefit from his expertise in packaging together appropriately priced and positioned insurance coverages that meet individual client needs. This expertise and Jeff’s consultative style has lead to a well informed client base allowing him to win many Insurance Industry accolades and awards as well as client appreciation.

A Florida native, Jeff’s non-work time is filled with family activities involving his wife of 16yrs Laurie and daughter Whitney. The family participates in Whitney’s achievements in academics and soccer. Jeff enjoys currently coaching High School Varsity soccer and enjoyed his club coaching experience, also. Wife Laurie has also been recognized “Dividend” volunteer of the year. The Curtis’ enjoy traveling and outdoor activities like golf and flats fishing together. The Curtis family also likes giving back to the community supporting many service organizations like Boy Scouts, MS and Paralyzed Veterans among others.

Charlie Coffey - Operations

Charlie is responsible for interacting with J. Curtis & Associates’ vendors and staff identifying opportunities and processes so we may better serve you, our clients. Charlie has held many positions within the property, casualty and financial services industry serving in both the carrier and independent consultant houses for more than 24 years. His knowledge of and licensure in property & casualty, life & health and independent adjusting has given him a unique insight to the integration of these many facets. Serving as adjunct faculty in Risk Management, Finance and Insurance at several community colleges keeps him abreast of current industry trends and legislative actions. Charlie enjoys using all these different skill sets developing processes which allow J. Curtis & Associates’ clients, insurers and staff to benefit from quality improvement processes.

Charlie holds a Master’s of Science in Management in Risk Management and Insurance (MSM in RMI) from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Concord University. Charlie also holds a Certificate of Financial Planning from the University of Central Florida and is an RFC, LUTCF, ACA and AIFA designee. Charlie originally from Virginia is an active member of several arts and cultural organizations including the Central Florida Symphony, St. Augustine Symphony and River City Brass, among others.

Sheryl Bourff

Sheryl, originally from Indiana has been in the Insurance and Risk Management industry over 20 years, in several states. JCA clients will find this tenure has given Sheryl a diverse knowledge base with which to serve your needs.

Sheryl’s extensive background includes having worked on both the Company and Agency sides of the industry. She prefers Agency positions where it is possible to develop strong and lasting Agent - Client relationships. Sheryl being reared in a family of insurance agents has never doubted that Insurance and Risk Management is her natural calling.

Having studied music at Ball State University Sheryl is planning to participate in the Central Florida vocal music community. Sheryl and her son have been residents of Florida for five years and are active in both sporting and church activities.

Jack Colson - Agent

Jack, a Florida native, has lived primarily in Central Florida. After a successful career in medical sales as VP of National Accounts, Jack followed in the family footsteps entering the insurance industry; becoming a Property and Casualty agent. For several years, Jack successfully provided insurance solutions for large construction firms while serving other Florida agencies. We are glad Jack has decided to bring his expertise to J. Curtis & Associates.

Jack believes as do we, that given today’s complex business environment focus and specialization is a necessity. Jack has stated he believes “An industry focus will help deliver to his clients the best suited risk management services”. Jack feels he can deliver the best client solutions with J Curtis & Associates, Inc., a risk management firm specializing in Florida’s Hospitality Industry.

Originally from Bradenton, FL Jack received a BA in Economics from San Diego State University. Jack, wife Juliet also a successful professional and daughter Jessica now reside in Winter Park, FL. Daughter Jessica is very active in AAU basketball playing for her high school, where Jack and Juliet are frequently in the stands as supporters. Jack is an avid golfer and the clan likes spending quality time with family, friends and pets. The Colson’s also donate time and talent to charities like the MS Foundation and local community services.

Rick Mallard - Agent

A Florida native, Rick, has spent his entire professional life, over 31 years in Insurance and Risk Management. During his career, he has excelled as an Agent, Agency Owner and Independent All Lines Adjuster.

Rick’s insurance industry experience and specialties have included Hospitality, Aviation, Marine, Apartments and Condominium Associations. JCA is glad to have Rick onboard as his extensive insurance experience with Hospitality fits “hand-in-glove” with our mission of being “Florida’s Hospitality Insurance Specialists”. You will find in Rick a very capable consultant given his strong product & industry knowledge and experience.

Rick is a father of two and still resides in his hometown of Lakeland, FL. His interests include boating, fishing, golf and flying. Rick is very involved with support of all his friends and neighbors in his hometown community.
